Summer Camps and Workshops

It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly the beginning of summer! While your daughter may think of summer as an opportunity to laze by the pool and spend time with friends, it can be difficult as a parent to balance your child’s free time with some sense of structure. Camps and workshops can be a great way for your child to have fun while sticking to a schedule and cultivating new interests. Here are some suggestions of camps in the Austin area:

For Elementary and Preteen Girls:

Badgerdog’s Creative Writing Summer Camp

  • Who: 3rd-12th graders
  • When: June 6th-July 1st.
  • What: Writing workshops led by renowned Austin writers. All campers are published!

  • Who: 4th-8th graders
  • When: June 6th-August 5th.
  • What: An exploration of photography and storytelling in a hands-on workshop environment.

  • Who: Rising 4th-8th graders
  • When: June 20th-24th
  • What: A way for girls to explore healthy ways of handling stress, anxiety, and self-expression through yoga, art projects, cooking, and other activities.

Strong, Bold & Assertive

  • Who: Rising 4th-8th graders
  • When: July 11th-15th
  • What:This camp will help girls find their strength and inner confidence. Girls will lean how to project a confident attitude and assert themselves when the time is right. Activities include role plays and skits, a fun community advocacy project and lots of games!

  • Who: Ages 5-13
  • When: Weeklong sessions throughout the summer from June 16 to August 15
  • What: A traveling day camp with many great outdoor destinations allowing kids to explore nature and the outdoors.

Girl Strong Summer Camp 

  • Who: 6th-8th graders
  • When: June 13th-June 17th
  • What: This group gives girls a safe space to support each other, empower each other and learn how to be their authentic selves and giving up on the idea of trying to “fit in and be cool”. This group focuses on practicing self-compassion, vulnerability and empathy.

Yoga Meditation Group

  • Who: Teens
  • When: Year round
  • What: Yoga, meditation, excerise, and diet skills necessary to make goals and dreams for the future.

  • What: An institute focusing on strengthening self-esteem and cultivating leadership among teens.
