National Daughter’s Day: A Chance to Grow Closer
Transforming chaos into connection is the perfect gift to offer your daughter on National Daughter’s Day. This is exactly where my new book, released yesterday, titled “Pink Chaos: Navigating the Mother-Daughter Relationship with Your Tween,” comes into play.
Pink Chaos: Ten Years in the Making
My journey in writing my book, “Pink Chaos,” has been filled with both challenges and triumphs. It all began as a presentation for mothers and daughters at my very first GenAustin conference. Witnessing the deep need for connection between mothers and daughters, I realized I wanted to create not only a safe space for this bond but also a book that would serve as a resource for mothers to learn all the tools I had acquired as a therapist. Fast forward ten years later, and I stumbled upon a powerful quote by Maya Angelou:
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
– Maya Angelou
This poignant line comes from her autobiography, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” first published in 1969 and time after time this quote was my lighthouse in the stormy waters of self-doubt. Needless to say, writing a book just like the mother daughter relationship feels a bit like a roller coaster.
Today, I am incredibly thankful that Pink Chaos is finally available on bookshelves—or more likely, on Amazon right now! Since today is National Daughter’s Day, I would like to share a glimpse of the first chapter, which you can download for free, and discuss some of my favorite tools featured in that section.
How Pink Chaos can Transform your Relationship with your Daughter
Everyone has a story that will break your heart: Everywhere I look, both in my professional and personal life, it seems as though many people have faced difficult times. Empathy is such an important skill when it comes to relating to your daughter. Recently this amazing short celebrated it’s 10th birthday. It’s one we play in all of our mother daughter presentations and in our therapy groups for girls.
