Sarah Joyner

LCSW

Sarah Joyner holds her Master of Social Work degree from Texas State University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her clinical practice focuses on adolescent females specializing in athletes, anxiety, trauma, and non-suicidal injury.

Sarah is a certified Level 1 Trauma Conscious Yoga Method Practitioner and trained in the following therapeutic modalities: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Clinical Practice, Non-Suicidal Self-Injury, and Motivational Interviewing.

Sarah incorporates trauma-conscious somatic practices and cognitive-based therapeutic work to support her clients’ healing journey. She also believes that the home environment plays a significant role in her clients’ healing and works with the parents to help them define and create a space where the client and their families can thrive.

Outside of ATFG, Sarah is an active member of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports and a Contigo Wellness Foundation board member. Sarah has a passion for social justice and promotes destigmatizing and decolonizing mental wellness and creating equitable access to mental health services for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folx.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, James, family, and friends. James and Sarah are proud fur parents to Keva, a standard Goldendoodle, a psychiatric service animal and therapy dog. Keva is also a member of the ATFG team and is ready to give supportive licks and puppy hugs as you move through your healing journey.

 

 

Fun Facts: Sarah was Miss Georgia United States in 2019. She has completed a full marathon and a half-marathon and grew up on a horse farm.
