Shayna Barksdale, LCSW has over 25 years post-Master’s experience working with children and adolescents. Her passion for facilitating growth in others came at an early age at Westlake High School when asked to volunteer at a nursing home. Shayna went on to get her Bachelor’s in Social Work at TCU and Master’s at Our Lady of the Lake, Worden School of Social Work, in San Antonio, Texas. As a native Austinite, Shayna enjoys giving back to a community that inspires her. Shayna’s light-hearted warmth makes clients feel at ease and motivated to meet their treatment goals. In her free time you will most likely see Shayna on the hike and bike trail or spending time with her rescue dogs Martin & Ella.
Kelly Coulter, LPC, NCC comes to Austin Therapy for Girls as a full time therapist with over 15 years of post-graduate counseling experience empowering children and families. Kelly has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Stephen F Austin University. She went on to receive a Masters of Liberal Arts from Southern Methodist University followed by a Masters of Counseling from the University of North Texas. Kelly has a diverse range of expertise through her experience as a school counselor in Eanes ISD, parent coaching and seminars, 504 Coordinator, advocate for gifted and talented students, and inpatient treatment therapist. Kelly believes in developing a strong connection with children and adolescents while supporting and strengthening the family system. In her free time, Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband and children at the lake, training her new puppy and relaxing with a good book.
Amy Ashorn, LCSW joined Austin Therapy for Girls as a part-time therapist in January 2015. Amy received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and then went on to complete her Master’s in Social Work at UT-Austin’s School of Social Work. She has over 10 years post-Master’s experience working with children and adolescents in the Austin and Eanes Independent School Districts. Her passion and experience working in schools helps her to easily connect with her clients and support them as they overcome challenges and reach their goals. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her nieces and nephews and also volunteering with dropout prevention programs.
